Quick & Easy ShopSite Templates
This section of the Custom Template Cookbook allows you to take your basic store design and paste code into the main cell to quickly and easily create a custom template for your ShopSite store.
In ShopSite Manager and ShopSite Pro you have the option to create your own custom templates for your online store. Custom templates are a very powerful tool which allows you to get the look and feel that you want for your ShopSite store while still maintaining the use of the ShopSite features within the backoffice of your store. It is this reason that custom templates do have a learning curve involved. You would need to setup the code for your custom template in a way that it still utilities the ShopSite features which you want for your store. This is where the Quick & Easy template section comes in.
If you would like to get a custom store up and running quickly without taking time to learn how to create custom templates and use the custom template tags then you can use the Quick & Easy Template steps outlined over the next few pages to take your current look and feel and quickly turn it into a ShopSite custom template.
- Start by creating the basic layout that you want. The Quick & Easy template options work best if you have one main cell in your design where you would like ShopSite to put information, and the rest of your template, such as the header, left links, and footer remain the same. Three examples of basic page layouts are shown below. The gray areas are where the information is hard coded, and the white area is where the code from this tutorial will be inserted.
- Next copy the code from the Quick & Easy Template tutorial and paste it into your main cell. In the examples shown above, the main cell would be the white space in the middle.
- Last, upload your template into your ShopSite store. Select your new templates to be used for your page, product, search and cart templates.
